SummerStars is now Center Stage Theatricals,
featuring "Center Stage Kids!"
The team that brought you last year's
productions of Disney's HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL and THE WIZARD OF OZ, in addition to THE MUSIC MAN, ANNIE, SLEEPING BEAUTY,
TOY STORY, and more, has created "Center Stage Theatricals," which will include our annual summer camp: CENTER
STAGE KIDS. 55 area kids sang and danced their way throught the halls of Rydell High in "GREASE, "
and now the group is ready to take on Disney's MULAN. Those enrolled in MULAN have been invited to
attend the MTI Junior Theatre Conference in Atlanta, in January 2009 to perform and attend workshops taught by MTI and Disney
directors, producers, and choreographers!

WHY THE CHANGE?
The program that was created nearly
10 years ago as a cooperative between the school system and DBCC was recently taken over by the 4 directors, in order
to continue a strong tradition of producing quality theatrical events for and with children. Since we wish to produce
theatre year-round, we felt that the name "SummerStars" was no longer appropriate.
To create
a new identity, we felt as though we needed to shed the old image tied to the Volusia County Schools as well as replace the
name we created for the program. New Year... New Shows... New Name... New Opportunities... New Location... SAME QUALITY
MUSICAL THEATRE EDUCATION AND PRODUCTIONS. Besides "Center Stage Kids," we wish to create "Center Stage
On Tour, to bring shows to various locations; "Center Stage Triple-Threat" creating and performing more advanced
works for those students serious about a career in the performing arts, and "Center Stage Beginnings" bringing shows
like "Dora Live" and "Blues Clues Live" to area schools and pre-schools.
